Donovan

Mike Donovan is a retired union organizer from New York who has been sketching and painting in leisure moments throughout his life. He is an active member of the Sweetwater Print Co-Op where his pastels have been on exhibit in downtown Gainesville and for sale for a decade. He is also a member of “United Climate Artists”; “Artists for the Earth" [a professional support team within the international Earth Day Network]; "A4E Collective" [Artists for the Earth] within the Climate Emergency Coalition. While at first glance he may appear to be a typical Florida naturalist painter, it becomes readily obvious as one views his extensive portfolio that he has always been a keen annalist of human constructs in juxtaposition to nature. Notably, he is by no means an activist artist, per se, generally capturing scenes that are often tranquil or simply interesting on their face. However, the range of his scene paintings reliably deliver subsets that effectively contrast mankind's role in the enjoyment, conservation, and preservation of wild spaces he has visited.
